Warehouse Stomp 1/27/2012

As I was preparing my set for last night I was thinking about how I had this big Sidney Bechet shaped hole in my music collection.  That hole has now been filled as you can see based on my set last night.

It also worked out that we did a birthday jam for Gayl last night because I happen to think that “Joshua Fit the Battle of Jericho” is a fantastic birthday jam number.

I think with a bit of tweaking I could get a pretty good set together for Mardi Gras. I ended up switching the set around a bit to help keep the energy going in the room so the final set list I posted below doesn’t quite match how I had it.

Oh, and did you know that Tucson Swings is playing at Armory Park tonight?

Important Announcement About 520 Swing

Many people may already be aware, but I figured I should post something here as well.  You may have noticed that 520 Swing no longer appears on the calendar.  This is because we have merged with Warehouse Stomp to bring you an awesome dance greater than the sum of its parts.

But really, we basically had a dance every week in town as it was, now we’re just located at the same venue on the same night every week to make it easier.

So in short, don’t go to 520 Swing on Saturday, go to Warehouse on Friday.

Warehouse Stomp 1/6/2012

It’s so awesome to have a weekly venue in town finally.  Last night had a pretty good crowd since Phoenix sent down quite a large delegation.

I thought it would be fun to start posting my set lists from every time I DJ.  There are a few artists that I’m really into right now so you’ll see them appear multiple times on the set.  Once I figure out a quick way to export play lengths and BPM I’ll start posting that too.
